What the Landmark NFA Court Ruling Means for Limitless America Customers in Washington State

Big news dropped today for suppressor owners across the country. On August 13, 2026, the federal court injunction in Silencer Shop Foundation v. ATF took full effect. A Texas federal judge barred the ATF from enforcing certain National Firearms Act registration requirements against Silencer Shop, its dealers, and its customers for suppressors (silencers) and AOWs that originate from Silencer Shop.
In the 27 “free states,” this means Silencer Shop-origin suppressors and AOWs can now transfer just like any other firearm: Form 4473 + NICS background check only. No Form 4, no federal registration, and no multi-month wait.
What This Means for Washington State Customers Washington is one of the 15 NFA states. State law still requires the Form 4 process.Under RCW 9.41.250, it is generally unlawful to possess or use a suppressor unless it is legally registered and possessed in accordance with federal law. The Washington State Patrol has confirmed that the federal ruling does not change background-check or registration requirements for NFA items in our state. Legal suppressor ownership in Washington continues to depend on completing the federal Form 4 process. Bottom line for Limitless America customers in Washington:
