The Faxon Superfinished 5.56 M16 Bolt Carrier Group (TiN PVD) is a premium, full-auto compatible upgrade engineered for smooth cycling, dependable extraction, and long-term durability. Seeing “MIL-SPEC” as only the starting point, Faxon refines the details—materials, inspection, heat treat, and surface finishes—to deliver a BCG built for demanding shooters.
This BCG starts with a 9310 tool steel bolt that is MPI tested, heat-treated, and shot-peened. The bolt and carrier are salt bath nitrided to increase surface hardness and corrosion resistance, while the carrier and gas key feature TiN PVD coating for added wear resistance and a distinctive, high-performance finish. Faxon’s Superfinish on the carrier body helps reduce friction and fouling for easier cleaning and consistent operation.
Reliability is in the details. Bolt lugs are chamfered to support consistent lockup and cycling, the extractor is S7, and the assembly includes a spring, insert, and “Crane” O-ring. The gas key uses grade 8 fasteners and is fully staked to help ensure a lifetime of service. The M16 carrier pattern maintains the trip for compatible full-auto fire control groups and many modern trigger systems.
