Description

The Ithaca 37 is a pump-action shotgun that was introduced in 1937 and is based on a 1915 patent by John Browning for a shotgun initially marketed as the Remington Model 17. It utilizes a novel combination ejection/loading port on the bottom of the gun which leaves the sides closed to the elements. Since shot shells load and eject from the bottom, operation of the gun is equally convenient for both right- and left-handed shooters. The Ithaca 37 has the longest production run for a pump-action shotgun in history, surpassing that of the Winchester Model 12 which was the original inspiration for Ithaca's entry into the market. The Ithaca 37 is the only pre–World War II shotgun still in production. This Model 37 was made in 1948, and features a checkered walnut stock with ribbed forearm, engraved receiver, black grip cap, black ribbed buttpad, 26" MOD barrel with PolyChoke system, 2 3/4" chamber and 14" LOP. This gun is in nice condition with some light wear and appears to be in good working order.
